How long will my digital print last?
This will depend on a wide range of factors including the ink and media used, the location of the print with respect to UV radiation, climatic conditions, protective lamination etc.
In general use the following as a ROUGH guide: water based dye inks- up to 6 months outdoors to 25 + years indoors; Waterbased pigment- 18 months outdoors to 40+ years indoors; Oil dye inks 3 months outdoors to 20 years indoors; Eco -Solvent inks 15- 18 months outdoors with full exposure; True Solvent inks – 2.5 years+ outdoors with full exposure.

How wide can Digital Ink make my large format prints?

This will depend on the ink and machine selected to best meet your print priorities. Indoor / waterbased inks and all oil dye prints can be up to 1500mm wide. All high quality (720 dpi ) solvent prints onto self adhesive can be up to 1600mm wide. Solvent prints are available on a limited range of materials up to 5m in width. Wider panels are possible with high frequency welding on banner vinyl.

What file format do I need to submit files?
Refer to our “Art Check List” pdf for full details, but broadly, .eps, .ai, .qxd are acceptable with few other criteria. .PDf’s DO require a specific sequence of settings to be 100% workable in our pre press. Check with us BEFORE sending .pdf’s

What are the file specifications?
Refer to our “File specifications ” pdf for full details, but this relates to the programs we accept and on what storage media we accept your files.

What print equipment does Digital Ink use?
We utilize the widest range of printers in Queensland. You can access the more common waterbased printers, oil based printers, high quality solvent printers and the bigger outdoor “True” solvent machines.

How does this equipment affect my choice of print options?
By advising us of your print priorities, we can tailor a print solution that delivers your preferences AT THE LOWEST possible cost.

What turnaround time can I expect?
Our normal delivery is 2-3 days depending on the scope of the job.

What are the issues with glossy or reflective finished surfaces?
Glossy laminates or prints have great colour but at the risk of a highly reflective surface. Some Gloss laminates (PVC) also scuff very easily, PET does not. Refer to section “Laminating and Mounting” for more detailed information.

What can I clean my prints with?
Unlaminated prints from common waterbased machines CANNOT be cleaned. Laminated prints can be wiped with warm soapy water or methylated spirits.
Oil prints do not need laminating and can be washed with warm soapy water, BUT NOT methylated spirits.
Solvent prints can be cleaned with most domestic cleaners including methylated spirits without affecting the print.

What happens to prints if I roll them image “IN” ?
If the print is laminated, particularly if the print is “green” or alternatively left rolled this way for extended periods, the laminate could “tunnel” away from the print.

When asking for a print quote, what information will give me what I require at the best price?
Provide a full description of what you expect from the print, where it will be used, frequency of use, how close it will be viewed. Prioritise these as some are at the expense of others. We can then better select an ink /media / finishing combination that will ensure it is the best value possible.
